We are proud of our reputation as one of the world??s leading fire training colleges and our primary role in supporting UK Fire & Rescue Services. We are seeking to appoint a new Tutor to the Supervisory Development Department, which is a new role recently created following a restructure of the FSC Operations Directorate to allow the FSC to better deliver courses in line with the CFOAs integrated development model for fire service operational staff. This challenging role will requires talented individuals who possess enthusiasm, experience and ability to plan, deliver and develop new and existing courses to enable us to provide the best possible training for our delegates.


We need the successful candidate to be highly motivated, show an innovative approach, integrity and sound judgment. They will also need first rate people skills.


To be eligible to apply for the Supervisory Development Tutor vacancy, applicants should:

  • Be a substantive, competent, Crew or Watch Manager within a UK Local Authority Fire & Rescue Service
  • Have worked at supervisory level in charge of a crew at operational incidents and be able to provide evidence to support their application
  • Have recent experience of working as a trainer and assessor in a UK Fire & Rescue Service
  • Have a proven track record of developing and delivering high quality training courses.
  • Possess excellent course development skills
  • Be open and positive to change, including striving for and being involved in improving the systems and processes that exist within the FSC.


The post is set at Watch Manager (B) including a 20% training allowance and conditions of service applicable to this post are those laid down by the National Joint Council for Local Authorities Fire and Rescue Services and local conditions of service.


This post is offered on a 2 year secondment basis and applicants should ensure they receive the support of their Chief Officer before applying.
