Be the inspiration behind a world-class service.

Assistant Chief Fire Officers
West Midlands
Circa. £120,000

We have ambitious plans at West Midlands Fire Service. We are a high performing service ?? but we aspire to be recognised for being great. Our aim, ultimately, is to be recognised as nothing less than one of the world??s leading fire services. A world-class, forward thinking organisation, committed to excellence and to ??Making West Midlands Safer??.

That??s no small challenge ?? and we??re now seeking two high calibre Strategic Managers to support the Chief Fire Officer as members of the Corporate Board in providing the direction and leadership that will ensure we achieve our aims and objectives.

The Director Operations will manage the teams engaged in directly delivering services to our communities. Increasingly, that means working with partners on risk reduction and prevention services in addition to responding to emergencies and promoting community safety.

The Director Technical and Operational Support will manage the functions that strategically and tactically support service delivery. It??s a wide-ranging brief with overall responsibility for the brigade fleet, fire safety and the personal protective equipment that keeps our Firefighters safe.

With an outstanding demonstration of strategic level personal qualities and attributes you will have an impressive track record that includes driving improvement; you??ll embrace modernisation and implement sustainable reform. Open to new ideas and fresh thinking, you??ll have the courage to challenge the status quo and push for positive change. Equally importantly, you??ll have the confidence and credibility to get your message across clearly and persuasively at all levels.

A broad range of experience of emergency incident command at strategic and tactical level is essential, together with proven ability to work successfully with multi-agency groups. You should have an inclusive, proactive management style and must be able to take responsibility for decisions about major and risk critical issues. Awareness of the complexities of providing a service in a large, diverse metropolitan area is vital.

If you think you can make your mark and deliver quickly and effectively in these challenging but rewarding posts, request an information pack by emailing the HR Resourcing Team
