CFOA National Resilience is looking to recruit 3 Fire and Rescue National Resilience Deputy Coordinators to support the National Resilience Team.


Applications for secondment are invited from existing specialists within the Fire & Rescue Service sector.




The National Resilience programme is an essential part of Government??s arrangements to protect the national infrastructure in the event of catastrophic incidents. Within the Fire and Rescue Service the Government has invested over £200 million on vehicles, equipment, training and procedures to provide the best possible response capability. This includes equipment to deal with mass decontamination, urban search and rescue, flooding and command and control.


An integral part of these arrangements is the establishment of a Business Centre, based at The Fire Service College, to co-ordinate all essential functions of National Resilience. A network of coordinators and deputy coordinators forms part of the team to support the National Resilience programme.

This role will appeal to a dynamic, self motivated and innovative individual willing to play an influential role in providing effective National Resilience capability assurance as directed by the National Resilience Officer. The role requires the individual to undertake a variety of capability specific work, represent the National Team at meetings, seminars and conferences and provide operational cover on a rota basis in an advisory capacity as detailed in the National Co ordination and Advisory Framework (2009). The operational role may include attendance at Communities and Local Government Emergency Room (Fire and Rescue), Fire and Rescue National Coordination Centre (FRSNCC) and Strategic Holding Areas as required during either exercises or incidents.


The responsibilities of this role will be as varied as they are challenging. National Resilience is committed to appointing on merit, seeking candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds and taking full account of equal opportunities.


We would expect the successful candidate to start their secondment as soon as possible in July 2012.




Applications are invited from candidates who wish to join National Resilience Team on secondment as a Fire and Rescue National Resilience Deputy Coordinator up until 31st March 2013 with a possible extension.
