We are seeking a strategic leader who will direct the Executive Leadership Team and play a major role in enhancing the culture and values of the Fire and Rescue Service by inspiring high performing teams that will contribute to the service provided to the people of South Wales.

Candidates for this high profile role will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of the issues facing today??s Fire and Rescue Service, both within Wales and UK wide. Excellent communication and relationship/networking skills will be key to advising Fire and Rescue Authority members at a strategic level, and to working in collaboration with the Welsh Government, other FRS within Wales and partner organisations.

The successful candidate will be committed to fairness at work and will successfully achieve it by developing and effectively implementing appropriate strategies, through staff and service delivery.

Applicants will currently operate at Brigade Manager Level and have successfully completed the Executive Leadership Programme or similar strategic level training and have proven operational experience.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide operational cover.

The successful candidate will be required to live within the South Wales Fire Service area, as agreed with the Fire and Rescue Authority Chair.
