We are seeking a strategic leader who will be an integral member of our Executive Leadership Team and play a major role in enhancing the culture and values of the Service by inspiring high performing teams that will contribute to the service provided to the people of South Wales.

Candidates for this high profile role will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of the issues facing today??s Fire and Rescue Service, both within Wales and UK wide. Excellent communication and relationship/networking skills are essential to advising Fire and Rescue Authority members at a strategic level and to working in collaboration with the Welsh Government, other Fire and Rescue Services and partner organisations.

The successful candidate must be committed to fairness at work and will successfully achieve this by developing and effectively implementing appropriate strategies, through staff and service delivery.

Applicants must be substantive Area Manager, have proven strategic operational experience and will provide operational cover in South Wales. The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete the Executive Leadership Programme or similar strategic level training.

The successful candidate will be required to live within the South Wales Fire Service area, as agreed with the Chief Fire Officer.
