Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service has been officially classed as one of the top performing Services in the country by independent inspectors and was awarded Fire Service of the Year in 2011.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for Station Managers to join our management team in the Community Fire Protection department.

Within this role you would be responsible for leading and managing a legislative fire safety team for a Unitary area which will include managing performance, planning work activities, advising on technical fire safety matters and developing individuals. Additionally as part of a flexible duty system you will be responsible for responding to and managing operational and fire safety incidents, undertaking fire investigations and reporting on incidents.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of fire safety legislation
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of the technical aspects of fire safety design in buildings
  • Leadership and Management skills
  • Incident Command competence in accordance with EFSM 2

The successful candidate will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills; they must have the ability to inspire and maintain high performance from individuals/teams. They themselves will need to be team players and be able to motivate others whilst constantly supporting and actively promoting Equality and Diversity. The leaders we are looking for must be able to drive the organisation forward, implement change and achieve best practice. The successful candidate(s) will be required to reside within the county and these posts attract a relocation allowance.

Applications are invited from substantive Watch and Station Managers who have successfully completed or are registered to undertake IFE Level 4 Certificate and who have been successful at both stages of the Middle Manager National ADC process or equivalent test of potential in the last two years.
